The safety and traceability of food is of utmost importance when choosing which producers to work with. That’s why we only work with food producers who add value to the products they sell and meet our minimum requirements for food safety and traceability.
All producers we work with must be readily able to provide full traceability of the products that they sell. When it comes to food safety, we tend to look for producers abiding by Global Food Safety Initiative schemes, whether that is with BRC or Global G.A.P. SALSA certifications are also accepted.
We also look for producers who go above and beyond when it comes to innovative practices, flexible processing abilities or environmental and social initiatives.
It is free for restaurants and producers to use our platform and benefit from our services including the pricing diagnosis. We apply a fair and transparent margin on product prices, inclusive of our logistics costs and services. Our margin is usually half of what traditional wholesalers and distributors would charge kitchens.
Transparency is core to our business and our producers have access to our margins and final prices on demand. In addition, we work hard to provide the best customer service, whilst placing a high importance on being as fair as possible with our producers. We pay them upfront and help them access new markets.
It is entirely free to register on our website and app. By registering, you will automatically benefit from our services, such as live access to sales opportunities for which you can quote, logistical support, and the free promotion of your products and company.
Importantly, signing up also comes with zero risk. You have full control over your pricing and it will be treated with a high level of confidentiality.
Working in partnership with thousands of producers and kitchens, we understand that a business’ needs and priorities change all of the time. With this in mind, you are free to join and leave us based on terms agreed upon when joining our platform; by default we agree to your business terms unless otherwise negotiated.
Beyond contracts, we always aim to support the growth of your business whether that is through upfront payments, logistics solutions or long-term orders. In certain cases, we will also look into fixed pricing for a longer period of time.
Collectiv Food has a sales and marketing team fully focused on promoting your products to our London-based customers. We are proud of the amazing producers with whom we work and as a team of foodies, we enjoy sharing the stories behind products across our marketing channels. These include social media platforms, trade fairs, events, campaigns and mailing lists. We are also continuously adding new restaurants and foodservice companies onto the platform and so bringing you more potential customers.
Trading with existing customers through our platform will make your business workflow more streamlined and efficient, saving you time and money. There are other added benefits such as getting paid upfront (when orders are placed on our app), logistical support, account management and no more exposure to bad payers.
Most importantly, you will be promoted to a wider market, with greater exposure to potential new customers.
Producer partners who introduce us to other producers who fit our quality criteria and are accepted onto the platform (registered + products listed) will receive £50 towards a meal as soon as the onboarding of the new producer is finalised.
We encourage our hard-working producers to stop, relax and enjoy a slap-up meal. We also want you to visit more restaurants — after all the restaurants depend on your hard work!
You and only you set your prices. We recommend that you offer your best wholesale prices which typically include the cost of a single delivery to our consolidation hub. You can also set your minimum order quantity on your product page and you are always free to accept or decline any new orders.
Through our quote functionality you will be able to set different prices for specific opportunities depending on volume and delivery requirements. Prices will stay confidential and used on a deal-by-deal basis.
Yes. You can set a range of prices for the same product according to the quantity of the order. So for example 10kg of carrots might cost 50p/kg whilst 20kg of carrots cost 45p/kg.
You are in no way obliged to commit to every quote request. You will always have the choice to accept or decline a new opportunity to quote.
However, accepting an order means that you are agreeing to deliver the products requested in their full, undamaged state during the agreed delivery time. If you do accept an order but at the last minute are unable to fulfil it for any reason, then we will need to find a replacement for your customer so please let our Operations team know as soon as possible.
To avoid supply disruptions, we encourage you to keep your profile and product details as up-to-date as possible.
We frequently organise on-site visits for restaurants to meet with our network of producers. Due to the relationships we have built and the value that we add to our producers’ and customers’ businesses, we have no fear of bypass and have always shared as much information as possible, organising meetings and promoting direct relationships. We are also in the process of creating a direct messaging function between producers and customers.
Yes. You will be prompted to set your own order to delivery lead times on the Collectiv Food platform. We encourage you to include up-to-date information when it comes to the time between ordering, producing and delivering to us. This will help us set automatic deadlines for your customers to place orders.
When possible, we ask our producers to deliver their products to one of our consolidation hubs. From there, we perform quality and temperature controls before preparing each customer's order. We then handle the last miles up to their fridges using an innovative distribution model.
The majority of our producers organise the delivery of their products, but we are happy to help when this is not possible. We have a range of delivery solutions and our Operations team is here to help.
We systematically pay our producers upfront, the day we place orders with them. We believe that this is a fair way of doing business. We are all too familiar with the challenging practices and payment terms that many food producers regularly face. This also means there is no need to credit insure us, which should improve your margins and save you a lot of time.
You will need to produce a proforma invoice or invoice for each order placed. This is mandatory for you to receive payment, which will be sent via bank transfer.
