Front End Engineer

Collectiv Food is looking for talented Front End developers who want to join an exciting, fast-paced team in building the future of B2B food distribution.

Located in vibrant Notting Hill, West London, we’ll be giving you the opportunity to work in a small, collaborative environment that encourages innovation and contribution from everyone. 

As part of a multi-disciplinary team you will be using the latest technology to produce powerful, accessible products, helping to solve complex problems that will have a real impact on the success of businesses across the foodservice industry.

Responsibilities

You will be working with some of the latest tech, creating progressive and engaging cross-platform applications.

  • Writing and building reusable code to implement amazing user experiences

  • Ensure unit and automated test coverage is achieved

  • Optimisation of applications for speed and scalability

  • Agile/Scrum development, including: 

    • Active involvement in refinement and planning sessions

    • Working well in a team context adapting to and influencing team practices

  • Contributing to wider business goals, ensuring the availability, security, and scalability of its platforms

Skills & requirements

  • At least 18 months of professional experience building web applications in JavaScript, including confidence with:

    • Frameworks such as Vue.js, React, Angular, Preact, Choo etc. with the ability to adapt to different approaches

    • JavaScript unit testing (e.g. Mocha stack, Jasmine, Jest)

    • Node.js as a development environment – i.e. npm and build tools such as Webpack

  • Semantic HTML5 - HTML is about meaning, not just presentation

  • CSS and use of processors such as PostCSS with cssnext, SASS etc.

  • Experience working in service-based environments and with API’s (REST/GraphQL)

  • Good understanding of Responsive Design

Nice to have experience

  • Node.js and Express for Server-Side Rendering and isomorphic apps

  • Acceptance/functional testing, especially using Gherkin syntax

  • Continuous integration/deployment systems (Jenkins, TeamCity etc.)

  • Container platforms such as Docker

  • AWS infrastructure
